I've already been accepted to LSA, but I'd like some clarification on mid-year grades. It's not required or suggested for me to send them in, right? Thanks for any responses in advance.

Directly from the website:

“You are not required to submit the Midyear Report unless you are notified by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions that we will need these grades. Midyear school reports are recommended for applicants who have been deferred.”

So if you’ve been accepted, no.

Thank you for letting me know. I was 90% sure that I didn’t need to send them in.

Accepted students do have to send in their final grades/transcripts, so try not to let senioritis completely take over this year. :)

If I applied regular decision, do I need to send in a midyear grade report?

Rhebar’s quote is from the answer to a general question, not just about EA applicants, so no. Also, if you do ‘college search’ for U Michigan on common app, then check ‘school forms required’ under ‘common app process’ you see that midyear report is not listed, only school report and final report. Schools that require midyear report do list that.

If they want to see grades after an initial review of your app they will contact you. On the other hand, if your grades are good and you WANT to submit them you probably can. My D applied EA, e-mailed her admissions counselor to ask if they were interested in her first quarter senior grades and they were happy to take them, said to have GC at high school send them directly to a particular e-mail address so it would be official.

If you’re not deferred, how can you be sure that UMich will take your first sem. grades into consideration? In my case, they definitely help my application.
