As I was pondering my chances of getting into Cornell, I realized how terrible my midyear grades were in comparison to my other years of high school. I just wanted to know how important they were, and if going from a straight A student to this (see below) will have a major impact on my admission. My guidance counselor wrote a letter to the colleges explaining my circumstances, and how because my father was diagnosed with cancer and did not have much time to live, I missed alot of school.

These were my midyears:
AP Govmt. 88
AP Spanish 85
AP BC Calc 91
AP Chem 91
AP Literature 92
Senior internship 100

aww, you’re grades aren’t that bad! If they were planning on accepting you anyway I don’t think your grades are bad enough to change their minds. Don’t worry.
good luck! and don’t lose hope! <3

My friend had a 65 in one of her classes and she didn’t send in the mid-year report. She then called up each school and made up some bs excuse on how she sent the mid-year report but it has never been recieved, the schools then said as long as we have everything else, we’ll judge your status based on what we have.

I don’t think your grades are bad, especially under the circumstances. Best of luck to you <3

@ Ones
Man, your friend’s dirty. I wouldn’t be surprised if anywhere that accepted her rescinded her acceptance upon receipt of the final transcript.

you will get in a good school don’t worry. The same thing happened to me last year, my father died from cancer in Africa, my home country, and at school, i was being bullied alot., so my grade went to a 3.20 but this year I have a 4.0 so i am ok. You sound very brave.
