Has anyone here at CC ever heard about an ed acceptance being rescinded or an rd acceptance being withdrawn based on grades in senior year?

Just keep up your grades

as long as you have no C, there shouldn’t be a problem. A C or below is likely to get your acceptance revoked.

hansy, May I suggest that you reconsider your position. Have you ever heard of even one person being rescinded anywhere for a grade of C or D? If a single C in senior year gets people rescinded, there would be a lot of people looking for a new college after their senior year. My opinion here.

Yes, a single C does not get people rescinded. I believe Cornell looks more for people who are getting multiple D’s or are failing classes to rescind them. A few Bs and Cs are fine, but they may send a warning letter I believe. Just don’t slack off until finals. They look at your Final grades too.

Anyone know if midterm exams are included on midyear exams?

do we have to submit the midyear report if we were accepted early? i thought it was just the final report.

Im pretty sure you have to submit it if you were accepted early also.

On a semi-related note, for regular decision candidates, do they put much emphasis on your midyear grades? I’ve heard senior year grades mean almost nothing for admission

“On a semi-related note, for regular decision candidates, do they put much emphasis on your midyear grades? I’ve heard senior year grades mean almost nothing for admission”

…they want to see good grades in rigorous courses. If they see s significant drop from previous year IT WILL mean something to admissions.

Does anyone know when the Regular Decision notification comes out?

RD decision is heavily influenced based on Mid-Year (semester) grades. These should include the results of your mid-term examinations as well.

Colleges are more than happy to rescind your acceptance should they see a major drop in your academic perfomance. However, they know everybody’s human, so they do not put too much stock in punishing those who catch “senior-itis”, but it can be a major issue if you are getting several C’s and D’s. UVA especially is famous for rescinding acceptances, but I am sure all schools will if the performance warrants it. However, I have never heard of them rescinding out of the blue, they will give you a chance to explain your lackluster performance and then they will make their decision. But it is best to avoid that ship altogether.

I tend to get all As but I got two Bs this year, both first and second marking period. The grades are consistent so it shouldnt look like im slacking. Those classes are just damn tough…

sigh~

hope it wont hurt me too much.

does cornell see our midterm grades?
or just the semester grade?

Oh no! i dropped out of school right after finding out I got accepted and got too happy! Will I get rejected?

This is incorrect.

Just your semester grade.

As long as you avoid D-range, you are likely to be fine. General rule of thumb: if you want to slack, do it moderately and aim for a grade of high C or low B range at the lowest.

i did much better first semester than i expected; this was pretty much best-case scenario. so i got 4 As and 2 Bs. i thought i bombed my ap physics final, like get a D or something, and i got an 83% which is absolutely shocking. so instead of getting a C in that class i got almost an 85% =)
