On the mid-year report, is my guidance counselor asked to put grades for the first two semesters? My GC said that she cannot calculate an updated GPA until a course is completed, which basically means that there is no new information to offer colleges for the mid-year report other than that my schedule has stayed the same. Does this sound right?

It depends on your school. S’s HS has a fall semester and a spring semester. His midyear report included his fall semester grades, which are part of tge GPA.

He applied to a school ED. They contacted his guidance counselor in November & asked for his in-progress grades. These grades showed what he was earning at that moment, but were not part of his GPA.

The midyear report also has a place for your guidance counselor to affirm (or indicate otherwise) that there have been no new negative events they should be aware of.
