Mid-year report question.

Since I was deferred this past January I was placed under the regular decision option and had a question regarding the mid year reports. Santa Clara said on their deferral letter that they require either first semester (In my case ended January 29, grades aren't filed for us until February 8th however) or second trimester grades. However, on their website it was stated that they require mid-year reports by the end of January. If I can't get my transcript until the 8th will I be chastised for this?

I have the same question so if anybody out there knows the answer we would appreciate it!

Where did you see the end-of-January requirement on SCU’s website? Do you have to be logged in?

If you are deferred or if you are regular decision, you will need to turn in your 7th semester grades. It’s okay if they aren’t ready by the end of January. Just make sure to have them turned in as soon as they are available.
You can either have transcripts sent directly to SCU or have them ‘attached’ to your common application (this way all colleges on common application will get the transcript). In order to have them ‘attached’ to your common application, your HS counselor has to initiate the mid-year report on the common application and then you have request that the transcript is attached to your common application through the system (docufide- there’s a common application tab). I think ‘attaching’ it to your common application might make it easier for it not to get lost. BTW, Your counselor doesn’t technically need to fill out anything on the mid-year report. Hope that helps.

midwstmom - here is the link about the end of Jan mid-year report requirement:

My son’s hs counselor will not send the mid-year report (and transcript) until Monday, 2/7, so it will will be at least a week before SCU receives them (she is going to snail-mail them). Hopefully it’s not too late. My son sent them an email explaining this, but has not heard back from them. My feeling is it won’t matter. They can’t expect to get mid-year reports the day after the first semester ends (can they?).

The year my daughter was matriculating there, they wanted final transcripts by something like June 15. Here in New England, school didn’t even get OUT until June 25…and transcripts certainly weren’t ready to be sent off even on that date. We called them and asked…and explained the situation. They understood.

This winter has caused delays in ending the first semester in a LOT of places in this country because of school closures. I would think they will understand that also, but DO send the things ASAP.

We printed out the page from the website and gave it to our GC so he would not think we were making the date up!!

Thanks for the link, sarsfield. They have changed the checklist from the pre-EA version.
