Do colleges only look at it after they have made a decision? As in, it's only there in case you do very badly and they decide to put you on academic probation or worse? It won't factor in to your actual admissions for regular decision, will it?

I got the feeling (from people I know) that they make a loose decision before seeing it (if you're RD). It might affect your admissions if your grades or bad--or fantastic! If you're EA/ED, I think they might put you on academic probation or--rescind.

Well, my question is, most of the schools I'm applying to are around top 50. Nothing really prestigious. I'm basically a B student and most of the schools I applied are reaches in some varying degrees. However, in math, I'm just not going to be able to quite get it to a B. I'm worried this will affect things, especially when I've had bad grades in math my whole high school career.

Well, as long as your grades are holding. I mean, I've always had bad math grades and if they see that is your weakness, I doubt that they'll put a lot of weight on it (Hopefully!).

I've been under the impression that midyear school reports are added to your file before an admission decision is made.

If it's not a rolling admissions school, and you haven't been accepted, generally your mid-year grades are considered along with all your other grades (with the notable exception of the UC system). Why would a college ask for information and then ignore those data points? Issues of revoking an admission don't come up until your final grades.

So yes, generally your first semester senior year grades do factor into your admissions for RD.

okay so i applied ED. and now i need to submit my midyear report. right now my classes are AP Gov't (def B), Yearbook (A-hopefully, my teacher is insane), Honors Humanities (A- possibly, is a 87.1 right now, but still 3 more grades totaling close to 100pts), AP Physics B (A- but a 88.2 right now. Still have two assignments, a test, and possibly a lab), and First Aid/CPR (definite A)

So I found out from my Counselor that my school sends your second MP report card, not an actual transcript with the report. Hopefully I can get these grades up and, my report will look good. However I know that I will probably fail or get a D on the AP Gov final, my overall grade will be a B, if I get a D, but how will they look at this? What do you guy think. If I get As in all my other classes. But a, B,B, D (1MP, 2MP,Final) for AP Gov will I be rejected?
