so I was over at my friends house today and she found out she got accepted to NYU so we were celebrating. NYU does not require mid year reports.

Anyways we were talking about college and she mentioned that she didnt turn any of her Mid Year reports in to her other colleges because they didnt tell her to. She applied to like UPenn Columbia Duke Georgetown Cornell Princeton Harvard (etc). Im pretty sure the schools i just named require Mid Year Reports but she didnt turn it in. I turned it in for almost all my schools except NYU.

What happens if you dont turn it in? I turned it in for all my schools because it told me on Common App, but I dont want my friend to get screwed over for not turning it in.

Wouldn’t the school’s guidance counselor automatically send the mid-year report when it becomes available? I don’t recall as a student ever having to do anything about the mid-year report.

nope, for our school we have to do it and then bring it to the counselor because we have so many people and they cant keep track. so its all up to us

Same with son’s school. His counselor submitted the mid-year reports for them. They had to bring in the postage stamped envelopes, of course. Good looking out for your friend!

Probably your friend’s file is marked incomplete and will not be acted on until the mid-year report comes in. At smaller schools, the admissions office might notify your friend, but not the bigger schools.

I know of an applicant to my alma mater who I just learned has not taken any SAT subject tests even though three are required. It’s too late to take them now, and the admissions committee did not notify her that her file is, and must remain, incomplete.

My school doesn’t really do anything automatically when it comes to privates. I had to bug for my transcripts, my explanation letter, everything. Then I faxed it all from the College Center.
