How much does it really count?!..... wat if i got a B in AP?

it's an extension of your transcript

If you are applying RD/ ED II, your midyear report is very important because it reflects how you are currently doing half way through your senior year.

Colleges just want to make sure you're going to graduate and that you're not making C's and F's.

It is used more for applicants who are considered borderline. As they go thru the apps, some applicants are judged either auto-deny or auto-accept. Obviously the mid-year report do not affect these people. After that, how the mid-year report is used depends on the college. Some colleges (such as Wash U) checks off the mid-year report as it is received and apparently doesn't make decisions with it. Other colleges will only go into the mail room and find it for those applicants that are right on the line. In those cases, they may call the GC for it if they can't find it.
