Mid Year report

I had forgotten to send in my midyear report the dates it was due. I therefore called Rice today to see if I could fax it into the office. They said that they had been finished reviewing applications and therefore they were not accepting anymore application materials like the mid year report. I was wondering if this was a bad sign or a good sign that they reviewed my application without the mid year report. My grades this year were not all that good anyway.

Its not really a good sign or a bad sign (maybe more of a bad sign because your app was incomplete when they reviewed it), it just means they are done and not accepting anything from anyone. But its interesting that they said they are done reviewing apps already.

My S also called Rice somewhere around two weeks ago because he received a state level sports award and was hoping to add it to his file somehow since it was something he talked about in one of his essays. They told him the same thing, that it was too late, but only after asking his name first and putting him on hold. So he got the feeling that at least HIS application was through being looked at and didn’t feel too good about the phone call because the person he talked to was pretty short and unfriendly and he got the distinct feeling that he had already been excluded from the admit pool.

I hope not; hope he got accepted, and they didn’t need to see the stuff because he has already been admitted. “Short and unfriendly” may mean “swamped and overwhelmed”. Good luck to all here, and hope you get “approved” applications the end of this month!

hmm
I was accepted ED and I havent turned in my mid-year report either but no one said anything. My grades were good but will they rescind me for not turning it in?

Thanks, anxiousmom. I’ll hold that thought! And I’m sure they WERE swamped about 2 weeks ago.

Dont worry about that phone call at all. I got the same impression when I called to check my application status and I was accepted under Early Decision. I’m sure they were just overwhelmed.
