My school is on a trimester schedule. We get one set of grades in late November and another in the first week of March. For obvious reasons, students at my school do not need to send a Mid Year Report, since our grades in February are the same as those with which we applied.

My question: Our college counselors tell us that colleges sometimes call the school in early March to get our next set of grades. None of us knows how frequently this occurs. We think that maybe our counselors are exaggerating so that we don't slack off...or simply informing us of a really really rare situation that COULD (but probably won't) occur.

Does anyone have an opinion on this? Would Yale go out of its way to call for even MORE grades in early MARCH after having 3 1/2 years worth. Thanks so much guys!

If they have the last few applications in hand, and have to make final decisions based on differences that approximate the mass and width of an eyelash... then, sure, Yale might call to ask for yet another set of stats/grades.

Just don't slack off too much... Another two or three months of studious endeavor will probably not result in any actual physical trauma or permanent mental disability to either you or your family. (LOL)

It's not an uncommon situation.
Your school sent a transcript report (school report form) with your first term grades when you applied. You still have to send a midyear report form now, even if it has the exact same grades. It is for organizational/logistical purposes--the 2 forms contain the same data but they need to have the 2 different forms.

Why not take the initiative, and make sure Yale receives your March transcript on their mid-year form. It might be just what it takes to get accepted, and then it will be worth the extra effort. Wouldn't you agree?
