I recently got into Cornell University, college of engineering through early decision. I am now preparing to send my mid year report with my fall semester senior grades which are probably 5 A's and 1 B. Could my mid year report potentially hurt me b/c i did not make all A's?

No. It won't matter.

Yes the gods of Cornell will come down and rescind your application. You'll have to go to a state school and you'll live the rest of your life as a janitor. Sorry for the bad news, have a nice rest of the day!

I think your sarcasm may be lost on the kind of person that asks a question like this. In fact, theres a good chance that bnair hung him/herself after reading that post.

haha yea.. no complaints from anyone about almost all A's.

*** pugachev i asked a legitamate question! I dont know much about these things.....i am sorry if i have offended you in some way

I'm sure you know a lot about "these things." What a ridiculous question.

If you don't get straight As after getting accepted it can seriously jeapordize your chances of matriculating. Unless you pull your grades up for the next semester, chances are you'll be rescinded or at the very least placed on academic probation. Make sure at least half of your grades are that letter that comes before A in the alphabet if you want to have a fair chance of not being placed on academic probation while at cornell. (Academic probation at cornell is where you have to get above a 3.85 your first semester or you get kicked out.)

crap . . . i've been singing the alphabet to myself for half an hour now but I still can't remember the letter that comes before A
Hint, sparty?

Why would not getting straight As get you kicked out. I'm not a straight A student, but the classes are very difficult. I'm in the top 10 of my class (out of 513). That really wouldn't be fair.

wrxstiav: If your school cared about the admissions success of its students it would hire teachers who grade less harshly and curve their tests to at least an A. Obviously the administration has other priorities, like retention of knowledge. Pretty selfish of them if you ask me!

Well do the admission officers compare my grades with my rank? I've worked my a s s off for 4 years. I've seen people from our school go to MIT, Yale, and other schools, so I'm guessing they looked past that.

MIT and Yale? What are those? I have never heard of such schools. At real college admissions offices they look scrupulously at the borderline already accepted early students to make sure that they can withstand the grueling academic tests that are given often times outside in the snow walking uphill both ways. Most likely they will call your guidance counselor and any teacher that has ever hated you to get personal perspectives on why you are such a crappy kid and then they will come to your school with a big cake that says congratulations... but inside the cake will be a stripper.... and you'll be happy.... but she'll be holding a sign that says YOU ARE REJECTED! anyhow best of luck though and you really should step it up. Top 10 students with all A's isn't good enough at all

all A's?? I thought getting B's would be fine?

B's???????? How is that possible? I'm assuming you're at least moderately intelligent? Given that you're probably taking the most challenging courses at your school, are still involved in ECs, and you are trying to have a social life 06! Given that you are already accepted to college I don't see how you don't have the time and smarts to get all 100s all the time. None of you are worthy cornellilans and it will just be me and "cool kid" Arjun next year

haha im soo soo confused. Is getting mostly B's for the rest of the year okay or not?

and right now I'm refusing to study for a spanish test cause im tired and now ur all scaring me

well I just had to read a friend's college essay that he just started tonight because he's an idiot. So I'm cranky. I should be sleeping right now too it's passed my bedtime.

getting mostly Bs is a recipe for disaster. Even getting mere As is pushing it if you don't want academic probation next year.

haha.. very funny.
