How much does the mid-year report factor into admissions? Do they really see it before they mail out decisions? What kind of weight is giving to this report in admissions anyway?

I ask because I had an UW GPA of 4.0 for the past three years, but this semester I currently have 2 Bs and 2 A-s, and was wondering how this would impact my admission at HYPSM and Duke.

yeah... I'm wondering this too. all my applications were EA with a 4.0, but now I have a B and a C.

i hate to do this but... bump

lol, that was sort of an unneeded bump...

I'd really like to know this as well...

It could definitely hurt you; some schools will put you on academic probation, especially if you got in EA or ED.

i really don't think B's or A-'s will hurt....anything below, probably will tho

But do the mid-year reports arrive in time for the grades to be considered in admission decisions? If so, to what extent would my new scores affect my chances of admissions into the hyper-selectives?

I believe mid year grades are weighted as much as your past years maybe even more so since they show what you are now, not what you used to be. I know they recalculate GPA and use that. Of course if you did EA and ED you should be fine unless your GPA drops more than by .5 or something.

so they do look at them because colleges know about this little thing called senioritis and they will think you are slacking off probably. i would definately try to bring those grades up.

Yah there is nothing comforting we can say. It's gonna hurt. Especially at the aformentioned schools. They are looking for ways to rationalize rejections and I'd say that a weak Senior year is as good a reason as they come.

Well acutally here is an update list (keep in my these are the first A-s in my high school career):

now honestly, since the postmark deadline is March 1 (which I plan to take full advantage of), and decision letters come in early April... how reasonable is it that the midyear reports reach the admissions offices in time to be considered in admission decisions?
