Mid-Year Reports

Did anyone receive requests to submit mid-years?

I never did, but I sent my grades in anyways. Was that a good/bad decision?

Do people receive their acceptances (if they're accepted) according to when they submitted mid-years? (I know rejections go out in April regardless.)

I didn't get a request but I sent them online anyways.

I haven't received a request yet, but since my school requires that we give them a list of all the privates that we applied to in the beginning of Feb, I'm sending mine anyway. I didn't really have a choice. Heh.

And really, I don't think there's a good/bad decision to sending your midyear report. As long as your grades didn't plummet drastically, I don't think it matters that much. And I haven't heard of people receiving acceptances based on when they sent in their midyears, since the people who are accepted now never received a midyear request.

how do you send ur midyear grades to usc?

FG13: Go to status check. If you don't see the link under your status check, there is a list on left side. There you will see "Senior Grades". Click on that and it will bring you to link. Self report your grades. Then follow up by sending report card or transcript copy by mail.

D got request by e-mail last week and by snail mail today....Not sure what it means other than they want her grades...LOL.....If anyone thinks differently, let us know....

USC requests all midyear reports from those who aren't considered for Trustee/Presidential scholarships. Other than that, I don't think it means anything special.

Can someone clarify what grades we are supposed to submit? My school has 4 quarters, the most recent ending on January 17th, but the form for self submitting the grades says to submit the "fall semester" which I would think would be August-November.

sent them online with that button thing and my GC sent in official one

ilikesheep- You're supposed to submit everything from the beginning of your senior year till roughly around January. Since your school has four quarters, I would assume that the first two are considered the Fall Semester and the second two the Spring Semester.

vienna are you sure about that? I haven't been asked for my mid-year grades but i haven't been offered a scholarship either.

classic3020- At least that's what I've been hearing on CC for quite a while. Are you currently in the "being reviewed" stage? If you are, then I don't think you need to worry about midyear grades. It seems as if those who are already being reviewed aren't asked for their grades, and all you need to do is wait to see if you're accepted or not.

my status just changed yesterday from prelim review (1/6) to asking for my mid year report. I have a B+ in a.p. physics for both quarters. do you think this is going to hurt me?

^ dearcloud: a B+ in an AP Science is absolutely NOT going to hurt you. Nothing to worry about.

okay thanks! I hate that class so much

Hmm... I filled in my midyear report online and sent them in, but I have received no notification that USC received it.
When I log in, the status page still says the same thing, along the lines of "We would like a midyear report..."
My school is sending the official transcript out tomorrow.

I'm kind of worried about the grades I filled in online.
Is that the way it is, or should I have received some email that affirms that USC received the midyear report online?

I sent mine in today as well and I haven't received an email confirmation. I guess either call them or wait till your status page is updated.

since i had differing grades first and second quarter, should I average them or go woth the most recent?

I got a letter in the mail today. It wasn't a large envelope so I knew it wasn't acceptance, and since rejections go out in April I knew it wasn't that either (phew).

I live in Southern California so I'll probably be one of the first people to get this. In any case, it basically stated what I already knew/expected: Out of 20,000 Dec. 10 applicants, 1,000 were considered for Trustee and Presidential scholarships. The letter indicates that I wasn't up for them, but I am still being considered for other scholarships and admission.

They probably send this out to everyone who applied that didn't get a Trustee/Presidential. What's relevant to this thread, however, lies at the bottom of the letter:

"Also, if you haven't already done so, please submit the grades you earned from the first marking period of your senior year."

This ties in with what another CCer posted earlier, saying that the person they talked to at USC was surprised they hadn't submitted grades yet.

Basically, judging from that post and the letter, they very much expect applicants to inform them on senior-year progress, so for anyone unsure on sending them -- do so.

So basically, if we haven't received that letter, we still have a chance for Trustee/Presidential scholarships?
