i was deferred from EA and i really just dont want to submit my mid-year grade reports. Between the death of my uncle and college decisions coming, I was not able to do that well on my finals and now I'm officially freaking out. Granted, my school is considered very academically rigorous, however I dont see this to be a good enough excuse as to why i didnt do well.

SO..how much do the midyear reports matter and how much can they affect the admission committees decision?

id explain that your uncle died, def.
how bad are you, that matters a lot

Agree with the previous post, how bad are your grades?

I am really sorry about your uncle.

Well everyone was/is in the same boat worrying about college decisions so that won't fly.

As far as your Uncle dying you can have your counselor address that when she sends in the mid year report. If you had a big drop I would have her send in your record for the entire semester for each class so they can see you were getting all A's and then the drop coincides with his death. Without this I don't think they would let it slide if it was a big drop. If you just went to a mix of B+ and A-'s then I think it won't be that big of a deal and a note from your counselor should suffice.

thanks guys! I had my counselor write a letter.
