ED2 and RD 2023 applicants should have been contacted / be contacted soon for alumni (AAP) interviews.
ED2 are due back at Midd on Jan 21; RD by Feb 11, so if you’ve not been contacted by Monday and were expecting/hoping to be, I’d contact Admissions and just check with them.
How much does the alumni interview factor in to admissions? I had an amazing interview and I’m wondering if that’s could have a major impact on my admissions decision.
I’d be curious about that too but I’m not holding my breath. I don’t think alumni interviews really make any difference. I think they are a great way for students to learn more about a school and that’s about it. If Midd’s alumni interviews hold any weight, though, I’d love that. S19’s interview went 90 minutes instead of 45 and he thinks it went really well.
@homerdog@St678557 : I can only reiterate what I’ve said before; every time I’ve asked whether these interviews make a difference, I’ve been assured that they do. When asking how, I’ve been told that it is about color / personal circumstances not otherwise captured in the packet, Middlebury fit, and whether the applicant has real academic curiosity. As a result, I make sure I test these elements in my interviews.
My D is a current freshman at Midd and never was assigned an interview. Just throwing it out in case you aren’t offered an interview. It doesn’t necessarily mean bad news.
@Contented Panther that makes sense since Midd doesn’t have an essay or on campus interviews. Like I said, I’m hoping admissions likes S19’s interviewer’s review!
I have received an interview request from all of my schools besides Midd. I am from the NYC area. Should I reach out to admissions or would that seem pushy?
@pablo13 Hey have you received it now? I’m from abroad and I haven’t received any EVEN till now but Midd admissions says that if alumni aren’t available there might not be interviews. Totally normal and won’t have a bad effect. If your applying for RD they may just be too busy with ED2s right now.
