Midd Kid Music Video

Is this what Middlebury social life is like?

Here is a blog started by a young man just finished with his freshman year. It offers some inside insights you might find interesting…

[Snapshots of A Life](<a href=“Private Site”>http://tohuynh.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/)

For some, it is. Mostly, its an exaggeration. Don’t let the video influence your opinion about Middlebury. If it represents what you want out of your social life in college, you can find it at Middlebury. If its not, you’ll find other things to do or other parties to go to.

Thanks for the link Modadunn…super interesting.

Bicycle- do you go to Middlebury?

Just a tip (which I also assume any intelligent person would readily know) but: Don’t take one blogger’s experience or opinion as gospel truth or only truth.

As for life outside of class: Some kids are deeply into student government or causes, some are into athletics (whether that be varsity, club and intramural) and some are into the arts and theater and some kids will spend an inordinate amount of time in the library. I assume that on occasion that all of these things intersect as well.

searchinggirl- yes.

bicycle- I would love to message with you, I have some questions

People do get drunk at Middlebury, and throw parties, and (at least I imagine) have sex. Still, the video is meant to be a parody, taking certain Middlebury stereotypes and exaggerating them for comedic value.

My life outside of class involved lots of naps, many a day (or night) in the library, Axinn or Bicentennial Hall, Christian Fellowship meetings and LOTS of Pass-O-Guava juice, which you’ll find in both of our lovely dining halls. No laxitutes or Quidditch, but I certainly found ways to enjoy myself. And you will too, as long as you don’t follow my example and sleep through much of your afternoons. (Tip: avoid classes that begin at 8:00 a.m.)

By the way: once you get to know just about anyone at Middlebury, they turn out to be very friendly and kind. It’s not like the school is divided among those who fit the stereotypes and those who don’t.

it’s just a parody of stereotypes, some are obviously true but you can’t say there’re three categories of students in midd: those who lib it up, lax it up and quidditch it up - there definitely those who’re just not classified in these 3 categories.
