are you in the Facebook group?

Interesting…I wasn’t aware of this. He said the only qualifications are that your income is less than $150K/year and you’re attending a CA institution, correct? So what if you already receive a generous amount financial aid? Would this still have benefits?

@UCKitty: Not a part of the Facebook group because I don’t have a FB.

@King: Normally people that are 80,000 or less in income STILL have to pay about 5-8,000 dollars a year for a UC. So I guess a generous amount of financial aid would be 20,000+ but you’d still have to pay out of your pocket. So this scholarship is trying to help middle class people from being buried in debts. I wish I knew more about this. But I thought you guys would find it useful.

we do have a facebook group? btw 80k is the combination of both mommy daddy? lol

my mother makes 0 i should be an awesome candidate.

Ferrari! YES! combined :-)

UCkitty: If that is the only “income” there is, then heck yeah looks like you’ll get a good amount. My friends mom made 30,000 a year and he was 95% covered at UCSB.

I’ve tried financial aid estimators and it looks like I’m gonna be paying ~8,000 out of pocket

still a lot. hopefully i get a job…

Well, this would be really nice then! I’m paying through the teeth at my local CCC (out of state tuition), but next year I should be classified as in-state…thank goodness! If this passes in the fall crosses fingers in time for the 2012-2013 school year, I may be able to break even and not have to pay 8-11k OOP. Think a 2/3rds legislation vote on this act is possible? I sure hope so!

UCkitty: I know But hopefully this passes because if our parents make lower than 80,000 a year, imagine trying to pay 8,000 out of pocket a year and taking out loans. Too much.

Kings: That’s great! sign the petition because your voice will be heard! I’m praying this passes. It’s not only for UC. CSU ad CCC will benefit.

i signed it(:

Thanks UCHappyTrain! :-)
