Hi, I just accepted my admissions offer and I know I want to be in Middle Earth housing but I don't know what theme to choose. I am majoring in Psychology if that helps. Does anyone know anything about the different themes and which are preferable?

all I know is that the theme activities are optional. Also can anyone fill out the housing form yet? I payed but I still can’t tell them where I want to be at or preferences.

I think they will release another form asking you specifics like themes, smoking preferences, etc once all payments are due which I believe is sometime in early May.

ok awesome because I wanted to fill out the housing application but I wasn’t sure if I needed to have a preference for the theme and everything yet!

Themes didn’t really play-out well for my hall anyways. Just pick whatever stands out to you.

Yeah I heard themes aren’t really much for anything at all hahaha.

I’m interested in the Study Abroad hall though- was that one in ME or MC? >can’t remember

I also heard that themes don’t work well. Many people lie about which themes they like just because they think they might want to find people there but then they aren’t genuinely interested. Furthermore, some people don’t try in picking the themes lol

I live in ME and by now, I have forgotten what exactly our theme is LOL. It doesn’t really matter…I guess. Maybe its different for certain themes.

There’s a whole bunch of themes listed on their website:
[UC Irvine Student Housing - Prospective Student - Residence Hall Themes](http://www.housing.uci.edu/prospective/rhtheme.asp)

Yeah, it’s not that dramatic, but at the same time, it does help somewhat if you’re trying to go for something. For example, I’m in the UROP Hall, which is mostly geared towards research, but at the same time, there were only two instances in the year where we had people talk to us specifically about getting involved research and such. Then again, being in a hall where most others are going for research and where you can get help, it’s a good thing, but it’s not like you can’t just pick any random hall and still get research opportunities.
