I know it's frowned upon to put middle school achievements into your college apps, but I would like to know if there could be any exceptions.
In 7th grade I won the statewide spelling bee and placed well in the National Spelling Bee as well (you know the one on ESPN). I would like to put this one middle school accomplishment on my college app, but don't want to annoy admissions reps with something "juvenile" from middle school.
Honestly, do you think it is worth it to try to put this achievement somewhere on my app? And if so, how do you think I should put it on my app?
Thanks

I would definitely want to include that in my app if I were you, just because it’s an awesome experience. I’m not sure if it will actually impact your admissions decision, but at the very least, it will help colleges get to know you better.

Maybe you could include it under additional information, because I don’t know if you’d want to write your essay on it.

I don’ think you’d annoy them. I wouldn’t include “I had the lead in my school’s 7th grade musical”, but achieving something on a national scale (like the spelling bee or publishing a book or such) seems like it would be important for helping them understand you.

I agree with applejack and think that the spelling bee is certainly worth including in your college application.
