Middle School Grades on Courses and Grades Section of Common Application

So out of the colleges I am applying to, only the University of Southern California requires the Courses and Grades section.
I had no problems filling out grades 9 through 11. I don’t have any senior courses on my transcript yet so I didn’t have to list those (although I obviously did list them in the separate education section).

The problem is my transcript has the high school courses I took in 7th and 8th grade on it as they are calculated in my GPA.

This brings 2 problems when trying to list them in the section designated for this called “other grades”:

It asks me “Do you have other courses (middle school, post-12th grade, summer, etc.) listed on your transcript that have been issued official transcript grades?” which I have to say yes to.

1.) The “school name” only has my high school as an option, not my middle school.

2.) I can only put one year, yet I took these courses in both 7th and 8th grade.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

PS: I have 6 high school courses that I took in middle school that I would have to report

You’ll still have to send your official transcript anyway, right? If the Common App prevents you from accurately reporting your grades, then do what you can. For middle school, if you can’t change the name then I guess you would just leave it, and then for the grade you took it in, I guess just put 8th grade. If they show up on your official transcript that you’ll still have to send, then I think you’re OK! When I filled out the SSAR, I wasn’t able to put the name of my middle school or the grade I took it in, just “middle school” was an option, but I didn’t worry since I still had to send an official high school transcript, and I also sent my middle school transcript.

Either way, if you’re indicating middle school, I’m sure AOs will know that the name listed is your high school still. Hope that helps!
