Middle School grades? PLEASE ANSWER!

When I was 10, 11, 12.. I was really immature and stupid. In 6th grade I had like a 1.0 GPA and 7th grade even worse. But 8th grade I realised what I was doing and got like a 3.5 or something. In a nutshell I was a crazy kid who was more focused on my social life and chasing after someone I liked. Back then I was a totally different person. I'm now fifteen, and I have over a 4.0.. I'm a sophomore in high school but I get mixed answers! Last year (9th grade) I had a 3.8 unweighted GPA, 4.1 weighted. I'm in honors classes, and I'll graduate with 6+ APs. I'm very involved with school. I'm a straight A student.

They won't look at my early middle school years, right?

I want to get into the Ivy League/comparable schools.

No college cares about anything you did before 9th grade. You’re clear.

Whew… that’s good to hear  I just wanted to be sure! Thanks!!

Actually, it might depend on your school district. In ours, kids who are accelerated into high school math and language courses in middle school have their grades counted when their high school class rank is calculated. My S’s 7th and 8th grade Bs in algebra I, geometry, and Spanish I are probably what kept him out of the top 10% of his high school class in our very competitive district. Many colleges, however–especially the elite ones-- “take the transcript apart” and figure out your GPA for themselves, some excluding freshman year, some excluding all but academic core subjects, and so on.

I heard Princeton excludes freshman year. The only thing I have to worry about regarding freshman year is extra curriculars. My school didn’t offer any. But I go to a new school now and I’m very involved so…

The district I live in? Extremely poor. My zoned high school is a D school, and my parents won’t send me there so I go to an elite private school about 45 minutes away.

Like I said, I was really bad and immature in middle school and I didn’t take any foreign language courses or any advanced math classes. But now I am. I’m taking geometry honors and I’m taking algebra II over the summer so next year I’ll have pre-calc honors and finally graduating with AP Calc AB (my school doesn’t offer BC so I’ll have the most rigorous course load)

I don’t NEED BC because many of the students who graduate from my school go to Johns Hopkins…and we’ve had some go into the Ivy League.

I think I’m all right  my passions are linguistics and historical topics. I’m really delving into them this year!!!
