Middle School Spanish count towards 4 years of Foreign Language?

One of the schools I'm interested in applying to is Boston College which encourages four years of foreign language. I took Spanish 1 in 8th grade (and it is listed on my transcript as a high school class), then I took Spanish 2 and Spanish 3 freshman and sophomore year respectively. My teacher suggested I skip Spanish 4 and move straight into AP Spanish 5 for junior year, so I did. But now I have no more Spanish classes to take at my school, and I will only technically have 3 years in high school. BC says they don't count middle school, so would they technically view this as only 3 years of Spanish?

I am also interested in pursuing Spanish possibly to a certain degree (maybe a minor), and I'm wondering if taking a year off will have a huge impact on this. I will try to keep practicing my Spanish though during senior year on my own.

The requirement is for students to have attained the equivalency of 4 years of HS work – not necessarily the time in the classroom. Since you finished early, OF COURSE it won’t be held against you.
