Hey all, I didn't see a thread specifically for this, so I thought I'd start one. Decisions are coming out at the end of this week, and it'd be nice to discuss things.

Also, anyone know how much a really strong interview helps?

If the people on this forum were active, I’d have created this thread a few weeks ago. Anyways, nice to see someone take the initiative.

I am an int’l RD applicant for this fall. I’m from India and I never had an interview from Midd.

Yeah, it’s funny how some schools’ threads are so active yet others’ aren’t. Oh well.

That’s cool that you’re from India! I’m a domestic applicant from the Midwest. How’d you hear about Middlebury?

I like the weather in the Northeast. So I’ve searched for all the good colleges there that give substantial FA packages to int’ls and Midd was not difficult to find!

I’ve heard that although interviews can’t hurt, they normally don’t help you too much either because most people do a decent job. All the same if you had an amazing interview then your interviewer will show it in his/her report and it could make a difference if you’re a border applicant.
My interview with Dartmouth was fantastic so I’m really hoping it could tip the scales in my favor. Unfortunately, I was never contacted for an interview with Midd :(

This friday and saturday should be interesting. I hear back from Midd, UVa, GW, and VT.
Although…the last three are only rumored to be coming out this friday and aren’t official.

What other schools did you guys apply to?
What do you like about Midd?

Ah okay, yeah I had an amazing interview for Middlebury…lasted 2.5 hours. Hopefully she liked it as much as I did! I applied to a variety of schools but my top few are Midd, Bowdoin, Cornell, Dartmouth and WashU (accepted). As for what I like about Midd, their language programs are awesome and I really liked one of their majors. Plus, I want to go up east hah

Any source for the March 23rd decision date? I can’t find one anywhere.

“Mailed Friday, March 22, 2013 - Available on-line on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 8:00am EST.”

4 days guys. 4 days.

Good luck everyone!! Just got the reminder email :O

“Yeah, it’s funny how some schools’ threads are so active yet others’ aren’t. Oh well.”

Not sure why activity on the Middlebury threads has dropped so much recently. With the number of applicants Middlebury has had, in combination with the looming acceptance date, you’d expect much more activity. Maybe people are just too busy to be posting on CC. Any thoughts or explanations?

Hello, hello. I got an interview from Midd back in January. I asked my interviewer if everyone got an interview and she said she wasn’t sure. I asked her then how much an interview mattered and she said it totally depended on the admissions’ committee but that so far, all her interviewees who did get in had had a pretty good report by her.

Hey, Midd applicant from Pakistan here
I also had a pretty decent interview back in Jan. Not quite sure how much it matters, though.

^Who was your interviewer, Maaz?

Okay guys from Pak, did you request an interview? Or was it the other way around?

It was the other way round for me. The alumni interviewer emailed me.

Oh-oh. I’m your neighbor and I haven’t gotten one! Uh was the interview on Skype or an offline one? And may I know the date of your application submission–just curious if that made anything?

Oh I don’t think it matters much, I have a friend applying there who has better stats than mine but he didn’t get an interview.
It was initially scheduled on Skype but then the interviewer mailed me telling me that she had to travel to Pakistan due to some emergency, so she ended up interviewing me in person.

About the application date, I was pretty stupid, I submitted it right at the end. December 31st! But that was the Common App. I submitted the supplement a couple of weeks before that.

Someone told me they give interviews to people who have an alumni who lives in/belongs to an area near them. Maybe that’s why you didn’t get one?

@sheza. Well I guess we were interviewed by the same person: AF :P
