I am a junior in a competitive private high school and I would like to apply to Middlebury next year early decision. does anyone have any thoughts on my chances of getting in?

weighted GPA: 3.95 out of 4.00 and have 5s on all of my APs and I also take honors classes
top 10% of class, this is the only GPA based award my school gives out

I haven't taken the SAT or ACT yet but from my PSAT scares I know that my scores will be good, i was in the 91% of students who took it, though I did not qualify for National Merit

Sports: Varsity field hockey 9, 10, 11, 3rd team in state, Varsity Soccer 9, 10, Varsity Ice Hockey, Captain, 9, 10, 11, I've won two student athlete awards from my school and received a merit based academic/ athletic scholarship

Other: I did a three week summer program at Brown University to study Art History, I received an A in the Class, I did a highly competitive pre-college month long summer program at the Rhode Island School of Design and have a perfect grade report in all of my courses, I participate in a community service group that works with underprivileged children and am part of the quiz bowl club at my school and I was nominated by my school to compete in a National Honors English program this Spring

Please I'm really worried about applying to colleges next year and i wanted to know if anyone had suggestions for ways I could improve my resume to better market myself towards college admissions. Thanks!

Get your SAT/ACTs as high as possible, preferably 2200/32+.
Try to think of things that make you stand out from all the other academic beasts out there. Develop a personality, find an interesting hobby. Found a club. Get a job. Start on your essays early.

btw (not that anyone is really jumping to reply to this) my major interest is in the visual arts, i just recently decided not to go to art school and I’m thinking of sending in samples from my portfolio with my application–any thoughts on if this would be a help?

Focus on the sport, if you’re recruited, that’s your best possible scenario. Top schools do not like most paid for summer programs–I would suggest something else this summer.

yea ive heard that a lot thanks for the advice, i’m definitely going to focus on community service and a job this summer instead of an expensive program…

I think you have a good shot. The only thing to worry about are your SAT scores. I would try the ACT and maybe take a few SAT II. Otherwise, your stats are very impressive. Good luck!

Chance back (applying to Middlebury this year)?
