Hey guys! I don’t see any ED2 discussion thread around, and since the decision is only a week from now, I decided to start this one. Who else applied ED2?

I’m from pakistan. What about you guys?

International Middlebury RD applicant here. Good luck everyone!

How do you guys know if releases on Saturday?

@362400‌ You should be able to see it in your portal.

Good luck everyone! I wish there were some way i could know it sooner :stuck_out_tongue:

Deferred. Not sure what to think. Oh well, at least I can compare FA offers now. Does anyone know about the acceptance rate for those who get deferred ED?

@burak96‌ I didn’t know they deferred ED2, did you send your midyear grades?

@vballgurl‌ Yep. I sent my final grades too. I graduated last year.

rejected… 36 ACT. SAT 2: 800, 770, 730. President of the school, model congress, key club, and 3 other things. captain of 2 varsity sports, all-county in two. Hardest possible schedule: 90 unweighted average, but 96.5 unweighted for senior year. TWO hour interview. Asian male from NY.
Worth a try for my dream school.
Kinda sucks

Deferred 2280 SAT, 4.3 W GPA, 770, 770, 750 SAT II’s. Unique EC’s. Honestly didn’t know what to expect. Was there really no one on this forum accepted?

@362400‌ Wow, those are some big time qualifications you have there. I’m surprised you didn’t get in.

@OnlyYesterday‌ I think there’s still hope. Let me explain using last year’s data:

According to the Common Data Set, Midd received 940 applications and sent out 307 acceptances in ED I and ED II. According to an article published on Middlebury’s website (which was published after last year’s ED I), the college received 686 applications and accepted 287.

So for ED II the number of acceptances is 307-287=20, and the number of applicants is 254. 20/254 is just under 7.9%. That’s less than half of Midd’s regular acceptance rate. Also consider the fact that the reject to deferral ratio from last year’s ED I is 3.15:1. This shows that a deferral from Midd isn’t like a deferral from schools like Harvard and Amherst (i.e: a polite rejection). Maybe Middlebury has an unwritten policy of only accepting recruited athletes or something like that. Perhaps I’m a hopeless optimist who is over-analyzing the situation, but the 7.9% ED II acceptance rate and the 3.15 reject to defer ratio make the deferral seem a lot better.

@burak96‌ thank you for the clarification. wishing the best for the both of us. I have a friend who got in ED I who had a slightly lower GPA and test scores than I do and not nearly as unique of extra curriculars, so we’ll have to see how the rest of the regular applicants fare. it seems like the deferral could be a positive.

^^^by any chance, was your friend who was accepted an athlete or URM? Just wondering.

@arcadia sorry for the late response, but nope, as pasty as i am
