I didn’t see a thread for this yet. Who is going to apply ED this year?
I think I will!!! Does anybody know if Middlebury reccomends SAT subject tests even if you are submitting ur ACT score?
I’m planning on it! Well, i go back and forth between midd and brown, even though I don’t stand a chance for admission at either school lol
Me! Recently toured and fell in love with it!
I don’t think so; you either submit ACT, SAT, or 3 subect tests.
im most likely applying ed, does anyone know if you can you submit both act scores and subject tests scores?
@Retnuh47 Hmm…looking at their website, I don’t think you can (just because it says either ACT or 3 subject tests) but I might be wrong.
BTW @ everyone - I’m super nervous but also psyched to start getting deeper in the application process!! I hope we can stick together through these trying times (lol) and who knows maybe we’ll all be classmates one day
just out of curiosity, what about midd compels you guys to want to ed?
I think something that really compels me to apply to Middlebury ED is that it is the top Language School in the Country. I really want to study language through out college and this is the perfect school for it. Also the campus is beautiful and I fall in love whenever I go. My stats are way to low to get in but you never know until you apply.
do you guys think I have a chance at early decision?
33 ACT but 34 superscore and midd superscores
95 GPA unweighted so much higher weighted
ib diploma candidate taking all of the hardest ib classes
ap world sophmore year- 5
subject tests- math 2 - 750
us history- 710- might not submit
head of tutoring program at school, varsity soccer, track, deca with awards, volunteering, more tutoring, etc…
good recs
lmk!
forgot to add summer internship, also camp counselor experienced, want to major in history or political science
@ilovecoffee22 I think you have a pretty good chance of getting into Midd (even if you applied Regular Decision). Because Midd is such a prestigious school, you have to find something that makes you stick out and sell it (like your internship).
thanks! im from new jersey so geographically its even harder being from new england/ny/nj
also, I am deciding between applying ED to bates and middlebury. while middlebury is normally seen as a slightly more competitive school, it has an abnormally high early acceptance rate. do you think i have a good enough chance at middlebury to apply early or should i use my ED at bates? if I don’t get in ED, I will apply ED2 to the other school. the reason that i prefer midd slightly more than bates is the language program (i don’t want to major in Italian but I would want to take classes in it and bates doesn’t offer Italian). not a huge deal but something to consider. however, I would be more than happy at both of these amazing schools. lmk thanks!
@ilovecoffee22 haha that’s so funny. I am planning on doing the exact same thing too. Looking at overall the acceptance rates (ED 1 and Regular) both schools are very similar. I think your stats makes you very compatible with both schools so I would apply to the one that you feel like is your #1 choice. Have you visited both schools yet?
yes and i loved them both. what about you- did you visit? are you also deciding between midd and bates? i most likely will do midd ED1 but get worried that my stats aren’t good enough and I don’t stand out enough whereas my stats feel more comfortable at bates.
i also might need to go back to midd becuase it was the 2nd school I visited in the fall whereas I went to bates recently (only a 4 hour drive to midd for me).

@ilovecoffee22 I have visited them both as well and loved both. My SAT and GPA are way to low for Midd but it doesn’t hurt to apply.
