My child was too. Frustrating that it seems so arbitrary with regards to where they do and don’t get into and where they do and don’t get waitlisted. I know my child will wind up at a great place and be happy. But it’s disappointing to see their hopes crushed when they are waitlisted or rejected at one of their top choices (especially when their qualifications exceed the student profile and their counselors tell them that the school is a “match” for them - ie, not a reach school).

Congrats to all who were accepted! Best wishes to those waitlisted or rejected for happier results from other schools.

It is frustrating, but the reality for some of these schools is that they aren’t actually matches, even for the most qualified students. They are so competitive that they are a crapshoot for everyone.

My frustration comes from schools waitlisting 20x the number of kids who will actually get off the list, prolonging the angst. A rejection would be more humane!

Daughter was waitlisted. REALLY surprised by this one. She got into Swarthmore and is a language kid (Taking AP German, AP Spanish, AP Latin and Greek 2 this year). Would have thought that Middlebury would have thought she was an ideal match. Swarthmore is her top choice, so all good…but this one was puzzling.

I think it all is puzzling. Daughter was accepted at Middlebury, rejected from Williams and waitlisted in Amherst and a Likely Letter early Acceptance from Cornell (so all is good)
GPA 3,6 (translated from German/SAT 1550 and strong mix from science (Math and Physics) with humanities (Latin and Greek), so maybe that was interesting for some and not for others? Hard to tell.

accepted!
