Middlebury College Admissions Regular Decision Fall 2022

That’s the standard language in all acceptance.

He has been accepted at Amherst, ND, BC, Richmond, VU, Bucknell and Rice, and the language was much softer.

it’s just a straightforward way to remind u that ur acceptance might get rescinded if blah blah. every college does it. who cares about the phrasing :joy:

It may not be stated so explicitly in the acceptance letter, but it will be in the forms when you commit and send your deposit.

D waitlisted. Any sense of how many students get waitlisted and offered admission?

DS22 accepted to Midd!

Did the notification mention how many applications they received this year?

That is pretty standard for most schools.

Son accepted for Feb start. Not sure how to feel about the delayed start and whether those kids feel different.

acceptance rate this year ?

Son was waitlisted. Is disappointed as it was one of his top choices and said he’d have felt better to be rejected outright as this feels worse (no closure). Anyway, great school and congrats to all accepted. It’s been a tough college admission season and our kids have had to be resilient. And lots of great options out there too!

Not sure. We are on the west coast. DD went back to sleep after waking us up.

My D22 was waitlisted

In the past they have accepted 1,550 give or take to fill a class just over 600, so I am guessing 12%-13%. Last year they received 11,900 applications, up from the typical 9,000-9,500, so not a huge increase in apps from last year. Last year they over enrolled a bit (680) so it is possible that they accepted a slightly smaller number this year.

For Fall 2021, from the just published 21-22 Middlebury CDS:

11,906 applied
1,601 admitted (13% admit rate)
680 enrolled (42% yield)

D22 waitlisted. A little surprised only because Dept Chair told her her supplement received top marks, offered to zoom w/ her and spent 40min w/ her. Not sure if this is some yield test (she is super high stats from a STEM magnet) or if her magnet classes didn’t translate in rigor because they could only be marked “advanced” even though many (MultiVariable, Linear Ald, Discrete and Complex Analysis) are beyond AP level. She was bummed but OK because she was accepted to Northwestern yesterday and has 2 great safeties as well.
