^No, I think if Midd were practicing yield protection, he would’ve been WL instead of rejected
He was WL
I was talking about pianoswim…but I highly doubt that was yield protection. They got about 9,200 applications and only accept 1,000 or so. Plus, around 49% of the class if filled with ED and I believe around 50% of those accepted ED are applicants. I don’t see Midd practicing yield protection. I see a highly competitive school with highly competitive applicants. YES, a 4.3 and 1570 are great, but I’m sure thousands of other applicants had those numbers and better as well and got straight up rejected. I was even upset about my rejection because in the context of my school, with my merit, ECs, and even outside factors, I don’t think I should’ve been straight up rejected. I flew there in the middle of winter and met face to face with my counselor, and I actually offered a lot to the school, but I wouldn’t say it was yield protection.
If there’s actually proof that they practice yield protection, I’d actually be interested in seeing it.
Is anyone planning to go to Midd’s fly-in?
REJECTED White male from oklahoma - 4.2 GPA, 31ACT - Junior and Senior class president, President of 2 clubs, IB diploma candidate (14 courses), 4 AP courses, 4 years of rowing. Strong EC, strong writing, strong recs, amazing local interview. Also rejected from Bowdoin, Colby, and Amherst. apparently NESCACs can’t handle the thought of having an okie in their student body
My son got waitlisted with your stats and ECs 9 years ago…except 1570 SAT…these schools are just so hard to get into, many qualified, hard-working students are rejected, and with the global marketplace, it gets harder and harder.
I hope you have other good options! Remember, you can thrive at many colleges!
Accepted: GPA: 3…8 W/UW , SAT: 1450 SATII: 800s in math, physics, and chemistry …got accepted probably because of my background and the situation. I moved to the USA just last year at the end of my junior year.
I will be if I can somehow make it after visiting Amherst (their overnight program ends the Monday that Midd’s begins)
