I can't find the topics for Middlebury's supplemental essays anywhere!
Can anyone tell me?

Bump .

OK, it's here, I found it - Requirements, Fees & Deadlines
But since all the rest of my application is online, do i have to send the essays by mail? Or probably fax?

They told me mail was okay (as long as it had your name and bday) when I called them.

Unfortunately I couldn't apply because they basically told me I couldn't. (I've written loads of analytical essays but my teachers never gave me a grade--just comments.) Blech.

wait... Middlebury told you you couldn't apply because your school doesn't grade traditionally?...

No, it wasn't graded. My teacher had a policy of not grading essays in order to make us better writers. (We wrote first drafts, had our classmates critique it, wrote our second drafts, had our teacher critique it, and then wrote final drafts, of which she gave you improvement points and LOTS of comments, but didn't grade on the "goodness" of the essay itself.) I told Middlebury that and they said "we want graded essays." Unfortunately, I had none.

Could you ask a teacher from last year to grade an essay (from last year) for you? I'm sure they'd be understanding and help you out (as long as they are no longer your teacher).

You could also ask your teacher to go back and actually grade one of the papers. Just tell them that it's important and for a college application. I'm sure they'd be willing to go back and give a grade based on the comments, improvement points, etc.
