Middlebury, Hamilton or Amherst--do I have a shot?

im thinking in at all three. your ecs/interests are amazing!

The fact that you are in northern Virginia may help you with some of these northern schools, as some of them like geographic diversity. You have awesome test scores and the fact that you still have such a high GPA and your school doesn’t start an A until 93.5 is incredible! I would say that you have a great shot at all of them – maybe less so at Amherst, academically, but the fact that you have a legacy might help you there.

I’ve decided to send an additional supplement to each school, including a few writing pieces and a copy of the school paper. I’m hoping that will give the admissions office a few more examples of my interests and work during high school.

here are ur chances :

Amherst - low reach
Hamilton / Middlebury - high match
i don’t know but did u apply to Yale? wow 6 books nice
ur SAT I & II + your book work definitely compensates for your gpa =)
thanks for chancing me

I think that you are a great shot for every single one of them! Your SATs are amazing – and you have a wide variety of Extra Currics and nice GPA. I am actually thinking about applying to Hamilton and Middlebury as well… Junior now. Best of luck!

I would say VERY good chances all of these schools. You have very strong stats (don’t think your GPA is too low!), and pretty good, focused ECs. Good to great shot at these schools. I would say almost definitely one probably two or all three for admission. Good Luck! =]

Thanks for the prognoses, guys. I ended up applying Early Decision II to Middlebury and got accepted there, so I’m now typing this from my Midd dorm. Cancelled my applications to Amherst and Hamilton as part of Midd’s early decision requirements, so I never heard back from them.

In retrospect, I think it’s just important for students to make use of the skills they have and try to distinguish themselves in ways other than their GPA and SAT scores. I think that’s what allowed me to get in.

@#%K you dude. “do I ahve a shot”, no freaking duh. God that is liek the dumbest question I have heard jsut by scanning through your resume.

I wasn’t the only person applying to Middlebury, Amherst and Hamilton who had a “good” resume. I suppose I did have a shot, but so did everyone else–meaning I didn’t know how big of an advantage I had over other students.
