Middlebury Initiative

I could read the whole website and try to make sense, but I know there are a lot more knowledgeable minds than mine, especially when it comes to financial issues, Middlebury's history and intended future. So..

While Middlebury has surpassed it's alumni giving rate AND their fundraising goals as it pertains to alumni (very impressive in a year when it was clear that many in this country were slowing, slimming and eliminating their philanthropy), the Middlebury Initiative is/was shooting for $500 Million. According to the most recent data available, July 31 2009, they have secured commitments for just a little under $304,500,000 Million, obviously leaving them a little less than $200 million short. http://www.middleburyinitiative.org/role/progress.html

The alumni push was for five years (and earned them an additional $5mil for 60+% participation)... so, I guess the question is....

What happens now?

The Middlebury Initiative is scheduled to end in 2012. There’s still plenty of time left to raise more funds. In large capital campaigns like this one, some of the largest gifts come at the beginning and near the end.

The “alumni push” was just for the annual fund, not the Middlebury Initiative.

Acadia… you are indeed a wealth of information. Thank you!
