<p>Hi! I'm a college student from Missouri planning on applying to the language school for German next summer, but at $8000, it's very expensive. Has anyone here gone to any of these programs with help from financial aid? How much aid were you able to get, and do you have any idea how much I might be eligible for? My EFC is $0. I know about the Kathryn Davis Fellowship, but it isn't available for the German language.
I would also love to hear any opinions on the program itself.</p>
<p>My S did language school last summer and there is a previous post on this subject which you can probably find. I think most kids find it very intensive and a lot of work. I also think that during the program they don’t recognize the progress they are making. Once they leave and are in an outside situation, they are truly amazed. I don’t know what the FA situation is like for language schools, but the reality is I thought it was a bargain because he is a Middlebury student and for that tuition he ended up getting 4 credits… and that included room and board. Compare that to the typical semester at Middlebury where you also get 4 credits and the comprehensive fee is somewhere around 28K. Summer school at most schools turns out to be a real bargain!
