By my reckoning, we have 48 days to go. We'll get through this, inshallah. Best of luck to everyone.

It feels like a V E R Y long time.
Good luck to everyone!

Inshallah indeed.

48 days!?! On the other hand, I think that is really short. I am so excited :D!

finally it's our turn to have a thread - haha. yeah i am counting down the days on my calendar - it's the first school I hear from the others I have to wait for the mail :(

Good one, Dessin. Ok.. since there are 48 days to panic err.. pass, :) what do we feel about the decline in applications? Do you feel it improves your chances OR will you feel even worse if you get rejected or wait listed?

I HOPE it improves chances, It's my top choice! Once I visited it moved up on my list. Where does Midd stand on yalls list?

48 days does sound better than about two months :D

Insanity!
I love Midd, it's fluctuated on my list (the highest it ever got was 2nd when I was going to ED II if I didn't get into Dartmouth ED), but it's always been in my sort of top level of choices and I would be so ecstatic to get in.

I'm not counting my chickens, though.

Midd is tops on my list. It's been there since my visit, which was perfect . . . seriously.
There were no actual flaws.

Wow, I didn't realize it would be only 48 days... good luck!

I wish us all good luck. I am coming in to RD as an ED 2 Deferral. I hope we all get the results we hope for!

I'm so nervous. Midd fluctuates between my #2 and #3, but I love it so much!

I'm only applying to three schools, so it's obviously in my top 3.... :p
Right now, I'm trying to tell myself I like all the schools just as much, but that's not really true. I change my mind every third day or so about my top school. Midd is my top today, at least. It just seems so GREAT.

Its at the top.1. i'd say. but i am fickle

the visit was what made it for me too! It is the only school I cannot find any concerns with, except maybe getting in..

48 days! Seriously? Craziness, I'm torn between being terrified that it's so close and impatient that it's still so far off.

Midd is way up there on my list, but I've been trying to reserve judgement and not name a #1 out of all my apps because I have this irrational idea that if I don't it'll be less painful when I don't get in anywhere...

I LOVE MIDD. Its one of those colleges I applied to just for kicks, because I KNEW I wouldn't get in. If I get rejected from my ED II college (most probably will, ill get my decision on Monday :P) I hope I get Midd!!!

Yesterday I looked at my S's school's frazzle charts (they're actually called something else, but they sure do end up frazzling people) and where our students and Midd usually align. While the numbers are certainly above a certain low point, they really are all over the map after that. Usually with higher schools you can tell athletes in the mix etc, but nt with midd. We had perfect scores denied multiple times and "regular" high B+ A- kids get in a lot. There was nothing on that entire scattergram that gave me any kind of comfort that my S will be accepted.

^I hate eratic standards; Cornell has also pulled that crap.
It's my top LAC, but I still haven't fully weighed the merits of LACs vs. Universities conclusively. I'm terrified by their new acceptance rate, though. 1 in 6? That sucks.

Colin.. Midd is one in 6? sheesh.

I looked at their common data sets and son is well beyond their 75th in testing, but here's the contradiction: Application Essay, Recommendations are both only "important" in terms of admission decisions. Interview is listed as merely "considered" BUT both character/personal qualities as well as Talent/Ability are listed as "very important." So how does one discern character/personal qualities without high regard for recommendations and/or essays? Basically, the only things Midd says they don't consider is State residency and religious affiliation. Kind of leaves them a huge loop hole to do whatever the heck they want!!! :)
