Intended major: Biology
GPA: 4.0 (96% average)
SAT: 2180
SAT Subject Tests: 790 Physics, 710 Math I, 670 US History
Completed 2 APs, currently taking 6.

From Canada and applied for Financial Aid
Also applied for Feb admission, I think that’s the only reason I got in.

Intended major: Economics/Math/Philosophy
GPA: 92.17 %
SAT: 1850
SAT Subject Tests: 800 Spanish, 700 Math I, 610 Math II

IB Student from a private school, average student, maybe top 17% of my class. Completely unexpected. Rejected from Bowdoin. Accepted at BU, Babson, Bentley and waiting on others.

I speak three languages fluently and want to learn more? I really don’t know why I got in and others with awesome stats didn’t.

Congrats to those accepted! Good luck to all others.

cassie breeze, IMO Midd/Bowdoin a toss-up; each with things to recommend them. Nice choices. Williams however is clearly a notch above academically and reputation wise in the the post-college world

Accepted. International UWC IB student. SAT 1960, SAT2 Math 2 780, WH 710. IB Predicted score 40/42. Not totally surprised given that people have got in from my shcool with similar stats before. Financial aid is as I expected, so probably cannot afford to attend.

Intended major: International Studies and Spanish
GPA: 3.95 UW
ACT: 32
APs: 4, 4, 3 (my school’s few AP classes aren’t very good at all)
Location: Small school in rural Midwest
Accepted: UChicago, Carleton, Macalester, St. Olaf, Middlebury. Rejected at Northwestern, waiting for Pomona.

I would love to go to Middlebury but they gave me no financial aid (neither did UChicago)! Carleton surprisingly gave me tons of financial aid so I’m leaning that way.

I’m pretty surprised I got in though. Nobody from my area has ever heard of Middlebury so maybe they’re looking to branch out a bit. I’ll be talking with the financial aid office to see if I can squeeze some out of them and then decide.

GPA: 94.5/100 UW (Maybe about a 3.8?)
Class Rank: 56/730-something
SAT: 2350 (1600 M+CR)
SAT IIs: Math I 760, US History 740, English Lit 770
APs: APUSH 5, Chem 3, taking 2 more this year

Think the class rank/GPA is what killed it for me; lots of other applicants from my school with higher class rank.

GPA: 3.88 cumulative UW
Class Rank: top 10% (the highest my school ranks is 10%, but I’m valedictorian)
SAT: 2100
ACT: 33
APs: Euro 3, English Comp 4, Environmental 4, APUSH 4, taking three more

Intended Major: Poli Sci
SAT I: 2230 (730 CR 770 M 730 W)
GPA: 90/100 (school doesn’t use 4.0 scale)
Rank: ~15%
Visited and had a good interview with someone I had already met (I volunteered for the company she works for and met her at an awards banquet).

Accepted at UAlbany, Drexel, U of Tulsa, U of Denver, Rhodes, Northeastern, George Washington, Lewis & Clark, American. Waitlisted at Grinnell, Carleton. (Listed in order I received them, as that’s the only way I can remember them all :P)

Midd was the school I felt was most likely to reject me, so I’m not too surprised/upset. Think my GPA/rank definitely brought me down, and maybe my location as well (I live in upstate NY, and I’m sure they received tons of applications from this area). Fortunately I was accepted to my top school w/ a great scholarship the night before so it didn’t sting too badly, even though I really liked Midd. Not sure yet if I’ll accept a spot on the waitlist (still waiting on fin aid from the other school), but I probably won’t. Hopefully that’ll help someone else out. Congrats to those accepted and good luck to those taking places on the waitlist!

@13tt44 “Also applied for Feb admission, I think that’s the only reason I got in.”

Sorry, had to say something on this note. It doesn’t work like that at all. The Febs actually have, on average, higher GPA’s than the rest of the school and hold a disproportionate number of leadership positions on campus. I’ve also had professors admit that they prefer Febs in their classes as they tend to be more motivated students. So I guess my point is you should be proud of getting in as a Feb. It is in my opinion the best part of my Middlebury experience.

Just have to respond to a couple comments on here. In defense of Wesleyan, I think it attracts a very different student than Middlebury. While both attract intelligent successful students, the type of student who is drawn to Midd is unlikely to be drawn to Wes and vice versa. Both are great schools for the right student. @bigman to say that “Williams is clearly a notch above academically and reputation wise” is pretty silly. I suppose if you feel Princeton is "clearly a notch above Stanford, then, well, by that standard, you may have a point, but anyone who knows anything about any of these schools will tell you that there’s no qualitative difference between Williams, Middlebury, Amherst, Bowdoin, Pomona, etc.

I guess I assumed that since the acceptance rate is higher, it was “easier” for me to get in as a Feb. But you are right…Middlebury gets so many qualified applicants that, all students, Feb or not, are bright and talented.

EC’s: Captain of Debate; Captain of Cross Country; Editor of Newspaper; Student Government; A lot of artsy stuff; TONS of Debate success
Community Service: Volunteer Spanish Translator; Work with disabled individuals

Wow, so many smart people didn’t get in. I don’t know how but the dumbest person in our whole school somehow got in with a 3.4 GPA and bad SATs…She’s getting an F in AP Human Geo this quarter…Colleges are so confusing.

^she may have had an extraordinary essay or amazing recommendations. Or maybe she participated in very unusual ECs that you don’t know about. A lot of important factors that comprise college admissions can’t really be known unless you read the student’s entire application.
