purplerin123: well you are not alone in ur disatisfaction with your financial aid package. but it's not final. my mom called, and they said that it's just the estimate. mine doesn't match my EFC.

sorry for the slow response... priority mail straight to my po box :)

That's funny--my Midd FA package was probably the best one I've gotten.

I got accepted which makes me really happy, since Middlebury was my first choice to begin with (sorry to all those people who got waitlisted). Does anyone know what the acceptance rate was this year? because I heard from someone that it was 8%, but I heard before that that it was 26% and that they accepted 1600 students for a Freshman class of 600. I find it hard to believe that 1000 students would turn it down, but maybe I just don't know much about this because I'm international.

it's 23% this year. it's been published by middlebury college. you probably thought it was 8% because on the letters they always write, you have been selected as part of a 600 freshmen class from 7100 applications. but that doesn't mean ONLY 600 were accepted...they accepted 1600 because they know lots of people will not matriculate there.

and of course 1000 students will turn it down..maybe more, thats why there is waitlist. all those kids that apply to princeton, harvard, from intense priv schools apply to like 14 schools and middlebury is one of the popular ones.

its actually 1600 students for a class of about 700. The 23% acceptance rate includes the feb admits as well as september admits. Midd's yield has hovered around 43-45% in past years, but will probably decrease somewhat this year since the increase in the quailty of the applicant pool probably means more of the admits will be lured away to the ivies etc.

I have decided not to check any decisions online, but not having received any letter from Middlebury yet, Im starting to get worried. I live in Sweden, so it naturally takes a bit longer, but Im starting to get a bad feeling..

Accepted!

But a little bit scared to be bored in Vermont...^^

Any other international applicant? From where?

I'm international (guess from where?) Where are you from? I'm so excited to be leaving the country. And by the way for cilyboi i was one of the people that applied to 14 schools because my school doesn't put out a whole lot of US applications and gave me the impression that if I only applied to 5 or 6 it would be entirely likely that i would get accepted to none of them. For Canadian universities its easy to predict whether you'll get in since it's all based on marks.

where did you get admission numbers for this year (vermontkid)? in the letter?

Thanks

it's been published on the middlebury college website

1:05PM called admission office & they have not determined yet the size of the class of 2007 nor published it of course...in...the website

cilyboy said that admission numbers were published on the website--I remember seeing it. What he means is that 23% of all applicants were admitted. Of course they don't know how many will actually decide to come yet. :)

link website, please?
Thanks

It's near the bottom.

i just got a letter today from my midd admissions counselor; it said that "approximately 22% of the applicants" were admitted this year
