Decision: Accepted

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT I: 800CR 760M 800W: 1560/2360
[] SAT IIs: 790USH, 750 Bio(M), 720 MathIIC
[] ACT: N/a
[] GPA: 3.889 uw/?W
[] Rank: School doesn't, but top 10%
[] Other stats: NMF, etc.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Decent "Why Midd?" essay, good EC Common App essay about being president of the Deutschklub, better main Common App essay about my job.
[] Teacher Recs: 1 good but unknown, 1 amazing "best student ever" type thing.
[] Counselor Rec: Good I believe?
[] Hook (if any): Um. I work teaching science to elementary school kids, I've won a major award in German, I play a bunch of instruments, I have a very international family, I throw discus, I've cured cancer.
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: CA, USA
[] School Type: v. competitive Public
[] Ethnicity: White: Dutch & British.
[] Gender: F.
[] Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: S: good essays, good SATs/GPA, and I do a bunch of weird crazy things. I think I'm somewhat unique, and a good fit for Midd. W: SATIIs, perhaps? The fact that I'm a white girl from the rich part of CA?
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: I think I presented myself fairly well as a good candidate, not just for schools in general, but for Middlebury.
[/ul]Other Factors: I have good ECs. Yay.
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Congrats to everyone else accepted; to those denied/waitlisted - it's not the end of the world. The very very very worst thing that happens is you take a year off and go live your life before coming back to school. Is that really so bad?

*Decision: Accepted! *

Stats:[ul]
[] ACT: 34 Composite (34, 34, 34, 35, 12Essay)
[] GPA: 4.00uW, 4.53 W
[] Rank: No rank, probably top decile
[] Other stats: 6 APs
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Good commonapp essay, iffy "community" essay
[] Teacher Recs: Didn't read
[] Counselor Rec: Didn't read, probably not-so-hot
[] Hook (if any): Swimming recruit
[/ul]Location/Person:[list]
[] State or Country: Fairfield County, CT
[] School Type: Competitive public
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Male
[] Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: Swimming helped I guess, but being a wealthy, white male from an affluent NYC 'burb definitely didn't, and my ECs blew
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: I visited four times?
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Probably attending, waiting for one more school. I'm really excited, congrats or good luck to everyone!

*Decision: Accepted *

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT I:780M, 720CR, 710W

[] Rank: Doesn't rank
[] Other stats: AP Physics C and Calc BC (all that school offers) - no test
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: I like my common one, I took a risk with the community one and I guess it worked...
[] Teacher Recs: Great teachers - always evaluate nicely
[] Counselor Rec: Great counselor - always evaluate nicely
[] Hook (if any): Physics major? And possibly my summer physics internship work for 7 weeks at BU. Also, mesmerizing physical appearance. (a joke)
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: NJ, USA
[] School Type: Public Career school, very small
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Male
[] Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: Strength in essays I can only assume, nothing particularly strong about stats, lots of leadership positions in EC's
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: There aren't as many physics majors to compete against, no one from the school to compete against
[/ul]Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Congrats to all accepted!

Decision: Accepted

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT I: 800 CR, 680 W, 660 M (2140)

[] Rank: School doesn't release, but I'm in the top 5%
[] Other stats: 5 AP classes
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Probably my strength. I wrote about my father's passing and the community response, and how Middlebury is a similarly close-knit community. I also wrote about my experiences working at Jack in the Box and how it led me to become an activist for immigration rights in San Diego.
[] Teacher Recs: Strong. My AP Lit teacher let me read his letter - he talked about an essay I'd written and referenced my leadership skills, etc.
[] Counselor Rec: Strong. She was actually my English teacher at one point, and a close family friend, so she knows a lot about me.
[] Hook (if any): Journalist - I'm Editor in Chief of the top-ranked school newspaper in the U.S. for our size and went to the Princeton Summer Journalism Program, a selective all-expense paid program for underresourced students held at Princeton

[] State or Country: California, USA
[] School Type: Extremely competitive public
[] Ethnicity: Caucasian
[] Gender: Female
[] Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: Strong writer, passion for journalism, overcame personal hardship, 130+ community service hours, a couple of leadership positions but for ECs with LOTS of time committment
[li] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: I had a great alumni interview, and I think my "Why Midd?" essay was one of the better essays I wrote in college app season.[/li][/ul]Other Factors: Single mother with four kids, and a different economic standpoint than most of my peers.
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I'm excited! :)
