Middlebury vs. Bowdoin vs. Cornell

Barvoets, I get choosing based on the strength of the government major. It is very good there. But based on quality of life .… so you’ll be at Middlebury next year? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Best of luck!

agree completely with urban ^^^

I love and respect the passion for Middlebury on this board, and it’s completely understandable… A great school (so I hear) with passionate faculty (at least the two I know who currently teach there), an impressive campus filled with impressive students, and a rich history. Wow! Who could ask for anything more? But, really, Bowdoin ain’t so bad either!..Academics and faculty which both challenge and inspire, beautiful location and scale, great housing, food, and staff, outstanding students who are friendly, laid back, and wicked smart, and impressively rich opportunities for contributing to ones field of study…All this, like being at Middlebury, add up to a profound and uniquely memorable four years!..Oh, and the quality of life there ain’t so bad, either…Or so I hear

Any student with these choices deserves a kudos! Go Panthers!

Thanks for all the help, all!

And urban, here are Princeton Review’s Rankings for Bowdoin… pretty hard to beat!

1 Best Campus Food

6 Best College Dorms

2 Happiest Students

10 Best-Run Colleges

1 Best Quality of Life

Doesn’t US News & World Report do a ranking too? Do you have those numbers?

You made me do it barvoets.

You’re now a member of the respectful rivalry between Middlebury and Bowdoin. The schools are so similar that it always boils down to whichever one you like better. You’ll never find a Midd-kid who likes Bow-doyn better and you’ll almost never find a Bowdoin kid who likes Midd better (I had so many, more entertaining ways to end that sentence, but you’re new to the rivalry, so I kept it nice.)

Ha I mean i guess it ultimately comes down to gut feeling. I’m sure they’re both equally nice, I just happened to like Bowdoin better. I loved Midd too though, and I honestly though i was going to be a Midd kid for the longest time; the campus visit just didn’t enthuse me as much as I wanted it to.

And that is exactly what it is all about…how each person feels they fit. No need to justify yourself at all. Clearly we look forward to hearing from you in the future as you join in and continue the good natured rivalry between the two schools.

Congrats on a fine decision. Enjoy your years at Bowdoin–they’ll go by fast!
