Middlesex told me when I went to an interview there that I would need to take TOEFLS since I don't speak English at home since my mom's native tongue isn't English. I think this is inane since I've been living in Canada for 1 year and the United States for 3 years and have all A's in school. So my dad is going to email them about this and so two questions: Do you think they will still require the TOEFL scores after he emails Middlesex and will this email hurt my chance of getting in?

I don’t understand this. Why would the email hurt your chance of getting in? Even some international applicants are waived the TOEFL.

We live overseas and my daughter is a native English speaker. One school told me that if she didn’t attend a English speaking school that she would need to take the TOEFL. Based on this statement, my daughter will need to take it in spite of the fact that she is a native speaker. Is your schooling in French or English?

Oh I’m currently in the U.S. sorry for confusing you, so I’m in an English school.

jason, my thought is to look at the TOEFL test request as a neutral or even a potential positive thing.

If Middlesex is one of your top choices, consider just taking the TOEFL, without pushing back. If you achieve a high score, it will remove any fluency question that they may have.

Demonstrating multi-language fluency is to your advantage and distinguishes you against some other candidates.

Best of luck.
