* Three * writing courses?! That’s insane! How many classes can you take per term?

underclassmen take 5 1/2 courses (the half is a half credit art course) and upperclassmen take 5 or 6 courses. some crazy people take 7 but that’s relatively uncommon.
one of the writing courses is only one block a week. the other one is english class itself. i don’t know what the third one is though, andoverwarrior…

about arts courses (which i’m really excited about!), i plan on being in something jazz-related (i play alto sax) where i get to perform that counts as a credit, but i also want to do technical theater and maybe a visual arts course. how should i do that? and what foreign language do you take? I’ll be in French (probably 21/22)

I haven’t posted here for a long time and this might sound a little “hating”… I went to Lacrosse camp with two MS kids. They were from all parts of the country and seemed to be decent kids. They were all great players, but I didn’t really like how most of them acted. One kid was decent, the other became the camp jerk.

They said that the athletes get screwed over by the academics and they had stories of kids abusing the punishment system(like getting caught but getting the action put under a different category so they didn’t have two strikes in one(more trouble than 1 strike in two))… I really wasn’t impressed by the kids and was pretty shocked by the way they acted.

well mx prolly recruits for boys lax…just like any of the other big schools do…i have a soccer player friend who is olympic level…hes a jerk too and goes to phillips andover

and peab they said i have to take english 3, english 4, and sophomore writing workshop, which i just found out is once a week

MX does recruit, but both of these kids were very mean to everyone around them and tried to physically hurt a few kids. The kids from Loomis(Kent’s rival) were the nicest to me actually. The kids from Berkshire, episcopal in va and Andover were all nicer than average(better than average also).

This is a bit off topic, but how do you get “recruited”?

@ izzy busy bee you can do tech theater without having to take the course. new students can’t take an extra arts course in their first semester, but maybe second semester you could do a visual arts course if you wanted to? or you could do the tech course. talk to the academic department and your advisor when it’s scheduling time. and i don’t know if you’re asking me or not but i’ll be taking spanish 31/32.

@italian boarder- that really sucks that those kids were jerks…we do have some lacrosse players who are full of themselves =/. from what i can tell, it’s no worse here than any other school, though, but that might be me being optomistic. and we do have some recruits but as far as the school is concerned, everyone is here for academics first and anything else later, so the athletes along with everyone else are expected to handle the school work. and anything the disciplinary committee does is generally controversial; they suspend kids when perhaps they weren’t expected too, they let other kids off too lightly…its all subjective.

@andoverwarrior: english 3 is first semester, english 4 is second semester. the numbering of everything makes it confusing. (one of my friends did math in the order 6, 5, 7, 8, and next year 21) btw, writing workshop is one of the most useful classes you’ll ever take.
