<p>What are/were "spiffys?"</p>
<p>collar stays with springs in them to keep the points of your collar down on your shirt. They tucked under your tie and attached to the points of your collars. Evil, hateful things that nobody wore after Plebe Year (in my day).</p>
<p>My kids aren't wearing them, but they are wearing shirt stays that loop around their feet and attach to the tails of their shirt to keep their shirts tucked in. We never wore those in the 80's.</p>
<p>Must be the Marine influence during Plebe Summer training. They would drive me crazy...</p>
<p>One of the coolest things I saw was that one of my classmate's dads was a WP grad and he gave his dress gray trousers to his daughters. They turned them into dress gray skirts, complete with the black stripe down the seam.</p>
<p>Parent Update:</p>
<p>They can arrive on I-Day with nothing. They can leave after the first academic year with an SUV load (plus roof carrier) of uniforms and other assorted items. They are given lockers to store some items over the summer but depending upon the allocation of space they may be bringing (or sending??) home a ton of stuff. Be prepared!!</p>
