Anybody have any experience with these they would like to share?

Hmmm at my oldest son’s college they gave a mid-term eval for freshman in their first semester only. It’s not a grade but a list of classes and a designation on-track or deficient and the kids can see it online and they are required to schedule a meeting with their advisor regardless of the designations shortly after those are posted. My son had one deficient in one class which bless his heart he actually told us about. It was a wake-up call to kick it in for that class and he ended his freshman fall with an overall GPA above 3.0 so he must have kicked it in…that’s my only experience. I’m guessing the profs give kids with a mid-term deficient score a pep talk also.

Thank you.

I will fess up that I panicked when S1 told me he had a bad grade in one class and I called the admissions officer to see what was going to happen. I simply didn’t know who to call. He asked me if I wanted him to schedule an appointment with S and kick his a*s. (Those were his exact words.) I know he was half serious and half talking me off the cliff. Great guy, I will never forget him for the rest of my life.

It seems like school just started! How are there “grades” already!?

Nevermind - I thought you wanted info on mid-LIFE deficiencies. I have lots of those…

Shrinkrap - I hope all gets settled and grades improve for your loved one.

Thank you. Perhaps this is a much needed distraction from my mid life deficiencies.

Yeah really, like we need more “stress” in our lives these days…grumble, grumble…

My son (sophomore) just had his first test this week. Nowhere near midterm time!

S2 has had a least three quizzes in his math class and written two papers for another.
More in his other three classes I’m sure. The last day to withdraw from a class at his univ. is Oct. 18 so they have to have some grades by then to gauge progress. His classes started on Aug.23.

I wish my S’s school provided that service! :D
