Hi!
So i am typically an A student with a few B+'s scattered in at a very competitive private high school. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the year, someone very important in my life passed away really unexpectedly (she was my boss but also my mentor, almost like a second mother to me.) as a result, my grades dipped a little bit senior year, to mainly B+'s with one B and one A-. My question is: is it worth it to write a letter to the schools I'm applying to (mainly very competitive schools) explaining my situation and why my grades have lowered?
Thanks!

It’s a good idea, but it might be better for the letter to come from your counselor.

Have your counselor explain it in her mid-year report when she sends in your transcript. Good luck.

great thanks I will talk to him ASAP!!
