As midterms are approaching, how and where can I get copies of old exams?
I am taking Chem 20a (Scerri) and Math 32a (Rogawski)
Thanks!

Student Activities Center

do you just go in and ask for them?

I believe you have to give an old test and they let you in to the place that has the tests in the SAC. This is what I was told, but I have not gone in there myself.

^ Yeah that's the impression I was under too... which sucks because I have a test on Wednesday that I'd like to practice for, but no tests of my own to contribute yet

ohh thats pretty lame
okay thanks!

Just tell them you're a freshman and promise them you'll donate your exams next quarter, then they'll allow you to make copies of exams.

for scerri's exams, have you tried looking at past quarter's websites for old exams on VOH?

heck! you could almost get away with looking up other professors' exams on VOH for your class as practice material...

Scerri deleted all LOL

haha... that sucks... but to the OP, definitely check out other professor's websites for at least practice questions... they may not be the same as scerri's style but they can still help with practicing concepts...

^^ Some of his other quarters are still up... just click around

And you can always just go to any other voh page and print out any exam key to turn into SAC... it doesn't have to be the key to an exam that you actually took

You aren't limited to donating exams (midterms, finals). You can donate copies of your notes. If you are smart, just donate a chapter's worth of notes. Or borrow someone's bruincard with the sticker.

Yeah . . . a lot has disappeared after the Winter 07 Benny-Baugh saga.

If it's for Calculus, just do problems from the problem set. Most people have the solutions manual, so it won't be hard to check your answers and review .

Anyways, ESUC has some exams . . . a few societies have old exams too (browse online, I can't tell you exactly where or else everyone would have them). I think I read somewhere that Powell had some too.

Actually I've a few questions about Scerri.
Why is he famous among freshmen?
Does he speak with English accent?
Is he a British Indian??

He is british.
He's a cocky bastard.
He speaks the Queen's English.

and oh,

he teaches logic!

and BH, what happened with Baugh/Benny?

All right, thx. He looks Indian in his profile pic. Maybe he's a mixed race.

he is mixed

ESUC's old exams are not for everyone to use, and they're useless for lower divs anyways, things are so old that the physics series is 8!

Hi. I have Chayes for 32A this quarter (worst decision ever) and i went to sac but they didnt have any of the midterms or finals there. I was wondering if anyone here has any or knows the format of his test, because the class is really difficult and I would like to prepare for the exams in any way possible! Thanks in advance!

Well, for one thing, is he an assistant professor/visiting lecturer or a tenured one? For the latter, it's more common to find old exams. For the former, you'd have to do some digging! Try UCLA LJ Community too...
