Midwest LAC - Strong Studio Art Program

Looking for midwest LACs with strong studio art program along with strong science/math programs, who also give art-related merit scholarships, for a student who wants to focus on both. Easier to assess science programs than arts programs' curriculum quality. We've toured nine schools, but feel it's hard to assess the combo so far.

higgins, Kenyon, but I’m not sure about the merit aid. If they offer it, it would be for the whole student profile, not just art talent.

Oberlin has strong studio art and art history. Not known for sciences but the overall academics are strong.

If female and if willing to go further east, Smith.

What schools have you already looked at?

look at knox college.

I started this thread a while back when looking for art scholarships for my D:

I second Kenyon and Knox (both offer potential 12K in art scholarships!)

Adding Kalamazoo:

“Oberlin has strong studio art and art history. Not known for sciences but the overall academics are strong.”

Not true - Oberlin is quite strong in science and math with a new science building with great labs.

Knox is definitely worth considering.
