Midwest LACs accepting of gay/lesbian students?

Beloit and Earlham were the first schools in my mind too. Maybe Kalamazoo? I also have to agree that Denison has really changed, and academically it would be a good fit.

I just saw your follow up, and if you are expanding the search…U of Puget Sound, Lewis & Clark (I loved this school!!!), Pitzer, Whitman (reach), Bard, Hampshire, Sarah Lawrence, Warren Wilson.

Since the PNW has come up, I’d recommend looking at Whitman. If your daughter is an exceptional writer that may well make up for her GPA in the eyes of the adcoms. They really like strong interesting people who write well. Whitman is very friendly and accepting. A few months ago I ran across a website for LGBT students and Whitman was named as one of the most accepting colleges, I just tried to find it again but haven’t yet. I do know that my S, who attends Whitman, has an openly gay male friend and his gayness seems to be completely a non-issue.

Gross generalization here, but your daughter may well have an easier time finding an accepting place on either coast (especially west) where the social environments are more liberal. Best of luck to you both.
