Yea, I applied to Emory as regular admission applicant and was wondering if Emory considered mid-year grades in their admission process.

Also, what are some cases when an admitted student get rescinded?
I know bad grades are one of them, but how bad do they have to be to make a school rescind admission? (Fall from A to B OK?)

Yes, they do.

There would have to be a substantial drop - from As to Cs for example. And even then, they would probably just put you on academic probation for the first semester. Other than that, you would have to get kicked out of HS for cheating or something like that for them to consider rescinding your application. Maybe if you got arrested for assault or something? It happens rarely. Even then, how would the University ever hear about it, unless it was on the news or your school told them?

Yeah, it seems that most schools only rescind on very extreme cases.
For example, I heard of Dartmouth rescinding a kid's app from our school because he slacked off like heck 2nd semester - as in fall from stellar grades to F's, D's etc. - where he proved that he no longer cared about high school. As that is not what most colleges want from their kiddo's,

Yeah, I don't think Emory minds so much whether all their kids have 4.0's...cause they should understand that some classes are hard and you learn more despite the B than you would get in say, an Honors class that you'd get an A in. xD
