what do you guys think the real significance of midyear reports is for deferred ED applicants? if i go from a 96 avg in ap phy b (11th grade, 5 on the ap) to a 91 avg for ap phy c (12th), does it look like i totally slacked off? or do you think that anything in the mid 90s is generally ok for midyears and that its an extremely small part of the whole admissions decision?

AP Physics C Mechanics/EM is supposed to be harder than AP Physics B. And at any rate, its still a grade in the 90% range, so I wouldnt worry about it too much. I think they just want to see that you didnt slip from a 96 to an 81, or a similar drop from B to C or A to C.

that's one take on it, but does anyone think that there's a much greater value to the midyears than others might think? does it look bad if our grades are all mid-90s for ap's this year if they were high 90s in 11th grade?

dude dont wry about all mid 90s vs all high 90s, thats such an insignificant difference it won't even matter.
