Is there a difference between a mid-year report and mid-year grades? Because my counselor said they were waiting for teachers to get all their grades in before sending the mid-year reports. My school has not sent ANY senior grades to any schools so I assume these are senior grades. Is it anything else?

Mid-year report (at least for those students using the common app) is generally for transfer students. Since colleges don’t have “mid-year grades”, some of the more selective colleges ask for mid-year report, which is a form that professors sign evaluation student’s performance thus far and guess at their current grade. As a senior, colleges are expecting your “mid-year grades” so that they know how you are doing thus far and can base admissions off of that performance (e.g. they don’t want to accept students who performed well Fresh-Jr. year and then slacked off Sr. year)

the mid year report is the document your counselor is supposed to fill out from the common app website. My counselor just did mine today. request to have your transcripts sent with for 1st semester grades to the school to go along with the midyear report. :)
