I’m concerned that my child’s high school doesn’t release midyear reports to colleges until after the second week in February, when the second term ends. My child has applied ED II to a LAC in New England. The school in question says it plans to notify students of admissions decisions by the second week in February. How will the college give applicants like my daughter a full consideration without this information? Thanks for any insight anyone might be able to give!
Check the college to determine whether it even requires a mid-year report for ED2. I am guessing not. Most colleges with ED, including ED2, do not require and do not use a mid-year report to make ED decisions. A mid-year report is generally something required only for regular admission and even then large numbers of colleges do not require or use them for regular admission.
I would definitely send what you have. For example, if you use trimesters or quarters, just send in your first quarter or trimester grades. They will see the schedule on the transcript. I’m in the same boat; I applied ED II to Bates College and my school won’t have my grades ready until the first week of Feb. I will have my counselor send in my first quarter grades ASAP though.
Thanks so much for the comments - our daughter’s guidance counselor reached out to the admissions officer at the school in question, who encouraged her to send an updated student status report. Thank you and good luck to everyone!
